Alaz Jymison, known simply as Alaz to teammates, is an experienced outside hitter with 11 years of volleyball under her belt, having played at the middle school, high school, and club levels. Her strengths on the court include serving, setting, defense, experience, and hitting, though she is currently focused on improving her blocking and hitting through private lessons and open gym sessions.

Alaz’s achievements are notable, including third place at state, promotion to JV in middle school, awards for Best Defense, and recognition from college coaches. This season, her goals are to place in the gold bracket in all tournaments, become a more rounded player, reach college-level play, and be a reliable teammate.

On the court, Alaz takes on a coaching role, offering constant encouragement, studying her teammates to communicate better, and providing advice and examples to help others improve. Her training extends beyond team practices to include private lessons, open gyms, and mental and physical training at home.

What Alaz loves most about volleyball is the adrenaline rush from facing strong opponents, the teamwork, and the strategic aspects of the game. She draws motivation from a varsity player’s encouragement in middle school and now aspires to be a similar source of inspiration for others. Alaz aims to play volleyball at the collegiate level, with a particular interest in the Texas Longhorns, though she is still considering her professional path post-college.
